Wood Species

Ash, White

Selected sapwood is used with cream to light brown color. The grain has a similar pattern as oak. Cuts are arranged to form a blend of matching grain and color tones.

Brown Maple

Is a soft maple grade that ranges from white to brown or gray in color, and is used mostly for darker stains. Matched for grain, but not color.

White Birch

A white to pale yellowish closed grained wood. Suitable for all stains and natural finish.

Paint Grade Maple

Is a mix of hard and soft maples that range from white to dark brown or gray and is not matched for grain or color.

Red Birch

A reddish closed grained wood looking similar to cherry. Closely matched for color and grain. Beautiful in natural finish.

Knotty Pine

Is a blend of yellowish white color tones with a limited amount of tight knots throughout. Matched well to insure uniformity.

Spanish Cedar

A rot resistant imported softwood usually used for exterior shutters and doors. Should be painted or sealed before installation.

Clear Pine

Is a mostly white grade with very few knots. Matched for color and grain consistency.

Cherry, Select

The color is fairly uniform with little or no sapwood and well matched. A few small pitch marks and or pin knots may be allowed and some sapwood and or mineral streaks may be found in machined areas.

Poplar

Is a species of soft wood, white to light green in color best suited for painting and also a good choice for drawer sides.

Cherry Natural

A variety of color and grain variations including sapwood and a moderate amount of pitch marks and or pin knots are allowed to yield an attractive door with lively character. Virtually any finish works well with this depending on taste.

Red Oak, Select

Is an open grained wood well known for its beautiful grain characteristics. Well matched for an even color and grain. Minimal pin knots and mineral streaks are allowed.

Rustic Red Oak

Brings out the beauty of natural wood with partially open knots, pin knots and mineral streaks etc. Carefully matched to insure uniformity.

Hickory

Hickory has a coarse grain pattern and contrasting colors. Special attention is given to matching to achieve a beautiful blend of white, cream and brown. Beautiful in natural finish or light stains.

Red Oak Natural

Is a grade where mineral streaking, pin knots and some off color, etc. is allowed. Best choice for darker stains or paint grade.

Rustic Hickory

Hickory with most everything nature has to offer, including partially open knots, mineral streaks, etc. Matched for consistency.

Quarter-Sawn White Oak

Being Quarter sawn, this wood type creates a mixture of straight grain, rays and flecks, and is very beautiful when finished.

Mahogany

A blend of reddish brown heartwood and yellow sapwood with mostly straight grain matched for a blend of light and dark color.

White Oak

Is much like red oak with the color being more of a whitish brown and is also harder and heavier with a tighter grain.

Maple, Hard/Soft White

Maple has a creamy white texture with hard maple being harder and less porous than soft maple. There may be slightly more color variations in soft maple.

Black Walnut

Heartwood of black walnut is light brown to dark brown, chocolate appearance with a purplish tint and dark streaks throughout. A few pin knots and small clusters of knots may be allowed.

Wormy Maple

Is a rustic type of soft maple with gray to almost black streaks mixed with white and worm holes throughout. This wood looks good in almost any finish depending on taste.

Gray Elm

A whitish gray open grained wood known for its feathered grain pattern.
